Mike has three WSOP bracelets to his name and is also touted as one of the best Omaha players in the poker world. Mike has cash winnings of $6.5 Million and won the 2005 Tournament of Champions. Mike has honed his skills at the Sam’s Town Casino in Las Vegas where he was a dealer but soon became a star poker pro. It was in the mid 90’s that he turned pro and had won his first WSOP bracelet in the form of the $3.5K No-Limit Hold’em event in 1999. a remarkable achievement to his credit is winning two $1Million prizes in the same year. There were about six hundred and thirty one participants in World Series of Poker 2002. It was Julian Gardner and Robert Varkonyi was at the top two and fighting for the top place.
At the final hand, Gardner was dealt a JC and 8C. However, Varkonyi sat with QD and 10 S. As the game started, it was found that Varkonyi was six to one chip ahead. Thus, this made him to bet for $90,000 before the flop.
The “FLOP” was QC, 4C and 4S. This helped Varkonyi to have a pair of queens and also Gardner had a flush draw. Thus this gave some confidence to Gardner and he bet for $50,000.
The Gardner depended on the “TURN” so that might give him some advantage. But the “TURN” came to be 10D. This made two pairs for Varkonyi, one pair of tens and another pair of queens.
Now everything was depending on the “RIVER” because Gardner having flush draw was still left with many outs. Thus Gardner desperately required a flush card so as to won.
It was a 10C on the “RIVER”. Though it was a flush card for Gardner but that doesn’t make any help for him. Thus the 10C made full house for Varkonyi and made him the champion.
Thus Varkonyi made good calls and his luck favored him in the time of need. Thus the New York Italian, Robert Varkonyi became the professional poker player and won the bracelet and the prize money worth $2,000,000.

Erick is one of the youngest poker pro’s playing at the Full Tilt Team. He is also one of the most colourful and vibrant players they have. This guy is so resilient, he just never gives up. I remember an incident in 2007 when he had a famous prop bet with a couple of poker players. The temperature was soaring and the conditions were too hot to play. E-Dog as he is famously called, played out four rounds of consecutive golf and won the $350,000 bet. Such is the perseverance of this poker player.
With huge career earnings of almost $7.5 Million, Erick won the $5,000 Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No-Limit) event at the 2008 WSOP. He has a total of 23 cashes at the WSOP since he debuted in major tournaments in 2002. A baseball enthusiast, I read that Erick is a former all league quarterback and a baseball card dealer when he was 14. That is interesting trivia for a Poker star.
Lindgren has won 2 WPT championships, his first being the $4K No-Limit Hold’em Championship event in WPT 2002. He shared these experiences in his book on poker called the World Poker Tour: Making the final table. He won a second title in the form of the Poker Million III fetching himself $1 Million. For his outstanding performances, he was also judged the 2004 WPT player of the year.
Erick is of Swedish ancestry and is settled in Las Vegas, USA. He plays exclusively at the Full Tilt online poker rooms and can be seen setting the rooms alive often.
